Goa Common Entrance Test(GCET)

Information

Admissions to following Professional Degree courses in the State of Goa for the academic year
2013-14 shall be carried out as follows:
a) Admissions to MBBS/BDS/BHMS Courses shall be based on NEET(National Entrance cum Eligibility Test) to be conducted by CBSE and eligibility criteria prescribed by MCI. Syllabus for the same is published on MCI website www.mciindia.org.
For further details regarding the Schedule, Centres, pattern, application form and other relevant information, candidates are advised to refer to the website of MCI/CBSE, as well as lookout for advertisements, circulars, notifications being issued by above bodies.
b) Admissions to B.E. and B.Pharm courses shall be on the basis of GCET (Goa Common Entrance Test), which shall be conducted in 10 Centres, across Goa State
c) Admissions to B.Arch. course shall be on the basis of scores obtained at NATA(National Aptitude Test in Architecture), conducted by Council of Architecture, and qualifying exam (Std. XIIth /HSSC.)
Candidates are advised to lookout for advertisements /circulars/notifications to be issued by respective examining bodies regarding the above, so that lack of awareness on their part does not entail in loss of opportunities to seek admissions to Professional Degree Courses. Information regarding the admission process, schedules, eligibility criteria, merit list preparation and other relevant details shall be notified in the prospectus to be issued.

Important dates and Eligibility

Eligibility

Nationality : Admission to professional courses in State of Goa is open to Indian nationals fulfilling the eligibility criteria under various categories. Non-resident Indians holding Indian passport may also apply for seats reserved under NRI category. Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) /Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders are considered eligible for admissions to seats under NRI Category. Foreign Nationals and Persons of Indian Origin holding non-Indian passport must apply to Govt. of India.
Age : An applicant to Degree courses in Medicine, Dentistry and Homoeopathy must have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the academic year of admission to become eligible for admission to First Year. No age limit, minimum or maximum, is specified for admission to Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture.
Valid Score At GCET-2012 : An applicant for Degree courses in Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, Pharmacy and Homoeopathy must have appeared and obtained valid score at the Goa Common Entrance Test GCET conducted by Government of Goa for the year of admission. GCET score of the previous year/s shall not be valid. For Medicine and Dentistry Degree courses, minimum GCET score should be 50% (40% in case of SC/ST/OBC and 45% for applicants belonging to PH category.) aggregate in specified subjects. No minimum limit is specified for other courses. An applicant for Degree Course in Architecture must have appeared and obtained valid score at NATA conducted by Council of Architecture.
Qualifying Examination & Minimum Marks : An applicant must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination of the Goa Board or an examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, or any other examination, which in scope and standard, is deemed to be equivalent to the H.S.S.C. examination of Goa Board, and must have obtained the minimum percentage of marks in the specific subjects, as prescribed for the admission to respective professional courses, as under.
First Year MBBS, BDS and BHMS : Applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (Std. XII) examination of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English and secured not less than 50% marks in the aggregate of subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology taken together. (40% for the applicants belonging to SC, ST and OBC only and 45% for applicants belonging to PH category for MBBS and BDS Course).
First Year B.E. :
The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English, Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science /Biology and secured not less than 45%* marks in the aggregate of subjects of Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology. (40%* for the applicants belonging to SC, ST and OBC only).
First Year B. Pharm. : The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Mathematics/Bio-Technology/Computer Science /Biology and secured not less than 45%* marks in the aggregate of subjects of Physics & Chemistry with one of the following subjects Mathematics/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology. (40%* for the applicants belonging to SC, ST and OBC only). As per Pharmacy Council of India Regulations, candidates passing Senior Secondary School examination conducted by National Open School, New Delhi are not approved/eligible for admissions to B.Pharm.
First Year B.Arch.: The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects and secured at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% aggregate marks for applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC). OR 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central/State Governments with 50% aggregate marks. OR International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination. Applicants scoring minimum 80/200 at NATA will be eligible for admission to B.Arch.
Changes in Eligibility : In case Medical Council, Dental Council, AICTE, Council of Architecture, Pharmacy Council, any Court or any other competent authority changes the eligibility conditions/selection procedures and makes it specifically applicable to the admissions of this year, the provisions of the prospectus may be modified accordingly, subject to approval of Government, and the same will be duly notified.
Admission of Eligible Diploma/B.Sc. Degree holders to First Year of Engineering /Pharmacy Degree Courses: Candidates who have passed Diploma in Engineering /B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics as a subject at Std XIIth , with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC), shall be eligible for admission to First Year of Engineering Degree Courses, subject to vacancies in First Year, after vacancies at Lateral Entry into Direct Second Year are exhausted. The merit list of such candidates shall be prepared on the basis of G2CET Scores. In case of tie, Diploma/B.Sc. Degree marks will be considered to break the tie. Diploma holders in Pharmacy would be eligible for admissions only to First Year of Pharmacy Degree Course under this provision.
Admissions of such candidates into First Year will be subject to vacant seats available at First Year, after offering all available seats during admission rounds to eligible candidates from Merit List based on GCET.

Admission Procedure
(1) Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Goa shall conduct Goa Common Entrance Test 2013 (GCET-13) for admissions to Professional Degree courses in  Engineering and Pharmacy  in the State of Goa, for the academic year 2013-14. Admissions to Degree course in Architecture shall be on the basis of NATA as per details given under eligibility.
(2) Prospectus shall be available at notified places on payment of Rs. 400/- in cash (Extra service charge notified payable to designated branches of notified Bank.)
(3) Candidates can obtain the prospectus and application form by sending request to Director, Directorate of Technical Education, Alto- Porvorim, Goa, 403521 along with a DD of Rs.400/- payable in favour of "Director of Technical Education" at Panaji. Candidates may utilize downloaded Application Form -A for appearing at GCET-12 and submit the same in person at notified Application Reception Centre as per centre opted, along with a DD of Rs. 400/- (towards the prospectus fee) and the test fee of Rs.550/- by demand draft payable in favour of "Director of Technical Education" at Panaji - Goa, drawn on any Scheduled Bank and three identical photographs as indicated, and other relevant certificates (self attested photo copies) to obtain the Photo-Admit Card, from the Admission Committee. Admit cards will be issued only to candidates in person. Applicants shall ensure that the validity of the Demand Draft is atleast 6 months from the date of issue.
(4) Candidates who have already passed/have appeared or are appearing at HSSC (Std. XIIth Science) or equivalent examination, before the start of the academic session, are eligible to appear at GCET-12.
(5) The applicant should submit the Application Form (A) for GCET-13 in person at the notified Application Reception Centre as per centre opted, along with a DD of Rs. 550/- payable in favour of "Director of Technical Education" at Panaji, and three identical photographs as indicated, and obtain the Photo-Admit Card, from the Admission Committee, on the same day

To be successful in Goa Common Entrance Test you should prepare yourself according to the GOA Cet test patterndesigned by GCET board. GOA Common entrance test is conducted as according to the GOA CET exam pattern set by G-CET. So the engineering aspirants from GOA go through exam pattern carefully to achieve better exam results in engineering entrance exam.
Goa common entrance test (GCET) examination consists of five sets of question papers that are based on the core subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Computer Science. The candidates need to appear for a complete different combination of subjects as per their preferred field of study (either in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Engineering and Architecture).
The test paper of this entrance test comprises below point to ponder....
1)Each part carries 75 Multiple Choice Questions of one mark each.
2)The test paper of this entrance test comprises objective types of questions.
3)Test is to be completed within two hours.
4)Each of the questions carries one mark and there is no negative marking scheme for wrong or multiple choice.
