Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam(VITEEE )


VIT University, established under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956, was founded in 1984 as a self-financing Institution called the Vellore Engineering College. The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development conferred University status on Vellore Engineering college in 2001. The University is headed by its founder and Chancellor, Dr. G. Viswanathan, a former Parliamentarian and Minister in the Tamil Nadu Government. In recognition of his service to India in offering world class education, he was conferred an honorary doctorate by the West Virginia University, USA. Mr. Sankar Viswanathan, Mr. G.V. Sampath, Mr. Sekar Viswanathan and Mr. G.V. Selvam are the Vice Presidents, Dr. V. Raju, the Vice chancellor, Dr. Anand A. Samuel and Dr. S. Narayanan are the Pro-Vice Chancellors.

The University, two Campuses and nine Schools

To accommodate the growing demand for quality education, VIT University now boasts of two campuses, the main campus at Vellore and a new campus at Chennai. The objective at VIT is to create a dynamic environment that facilitates interaction and dialogue. To augment learning resources and promote interdisciplinary research, VIT has consolidated different disciplines into nine Schools of Excellence. There is thus synergy in the teaching and learning process, and members of the faculty are able to specialize in particular streams based on their interests.

Important dates and Eligibility


Nationality: The applicant for admission should be a Resident/Non Resident Indian National
Educational Qualification: Candidates appearing for the VITEEE-2014 should have either completed or shall be appearing in 2014, in any one of the following qualifying examinations
The final examination of the 10+2 system of Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the State Board; Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi); the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE, New Delhi)
Intermediate or two year pre-university examination conducted by a recognized board/university
High school certificate examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva
General certificate education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Srilanka) at the Advanced (A) level
Candidates who have studied in regular, full time and formal education are alone eligible to apply
Candidates appearing for the VITEEE-2014 should have secured an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate)
The average marks obtained in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology (PCM/PCB) in +2 (or its equivalent) put together should be 50% for the candidates belonging to SC/ST
Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible for all the 13 B.Tech degree programmes
Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible only for B.Tech Bioinformatics, Bio-Medical Engineering and Biotechnology programmes
Age Limit:Candidate’s whose date of birth falls on or after01st July, 1992are eligible to apply forVITEEE-2014
The date of birth as recorded in the High School/SSC/Xth certificate will be considered authentic

Application Fee and Mode of Payment

(On Line) Candidates can also apply online at www.vit.ac.in
Admissions through Net banking/Credit card/Debit card; demand draft mode (online applicants need to pay Rs 925/- only)
It is mandatory that the online applicants should send the hard copy of the application form to the university to the Director-UG Admissions, VIT University, Vellore-632014
(Off Line) The prospectus and the information brochure for the B.Tech programme, along with the necessary enclosures which include the application form and a printed self addressed envelope, can be obtained against cash payment of Rs 950/- from the various post offices as given in the VIT website www.vit.ac.in
Candidates can obtain the application form in person from the VIT University, Vellore campus; VIT University, Chennai campus; Chennai Administrative Office, New No. 6, (Old No. W-73), Second Street (Opposite Towers Club), Anna Nagar, Chennai-600040 (Tel 044-42016555, 65480555, Fax 044-26222555), by handing over a demand draft for Rs 975/- drawn in favour of VIT University, payable at Vellore
Candidates can also obtain the application form through post by sending a demand draft for Rs 950/-drawn in favour of VIT University, payable at Vellore, with a covering letter addressed to Director-UG Admissions, VIT University, Vellore-632014, requesting for the application form and indicating their complete postal address
On receipt of the demand draft, the application form with the enclosures will be sent by post
The postal charges will be borne by the Institute
Candidates should write their name, mobile number and address on the reverse of the demand draft.

Application Submission: The application form duly completed should be checked if all the items have been correctly filled and appropriate codes indicating your exact choice have been put in the right spaces provided against each
You are advised to go through the checklist available on the inside front cover of the brochure
Also ensure that you have adhered to the instructions for completing the computerized OMR application form before mailing the application
The application should be refolded only along the original fold and inserted in the envelope provided
Your application should be sent through either by registered post or speed post in the self-addressed envelope provided by VIT so as to reach the office positively on or before 28th February, 2014

Admission Procedure: The admission will be purely on the basis of the marks secured in the VITEEE-2014, conducted by VIT University
Candidates who have not appeared for the VITEEE-2014 are not eligible for admission
The candidates will be short listed based on their entrance examination marks and will be called for the counselling

VIT Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE-2013): 9th April, 2014 to 20th April, 2014
Declaration of results (tentative): 06th May, 2014, Monday

e-Admit Card:
The e-Admit card will be generated once the candidate has booked his/her schedule through the online test booking system
The e-Admit card will be auto generated for only those candidates who book a slot using the online test booking system before the last date
The e-Admit card will indicate the e-Admit card number, photograph of the student, address of the test center, test date and time selected by the candidate
The e-Admit card will be made available for candidates on www.vit.ac.in

VITEEE-2014 (Computer Based Test) (CBT):
VIT engineering entrance examination will be conducted from 9th April, 2014 to 20th April, 2014
The duration of the entrance examination will be 2 hours 30 minutes

All questions will be of objective type
Part-I-Physics; Part-II-Chemistry; Part-III-Mathematics/Biology
No negative marks for wrong answers
