West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination(WB - JEEM)

Information

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board was formed in the year 1962 for the purpose of holding Common Entrance Examinations for the Undergraduate Level Engineering Courses in the State of West Bengal. This year, the Board has stepped into its Golden Jubilee year. Since last year, the endeavour of the Board has been to enhance the standard of transparency in conducting Common Entrance Examinations for various professional Undergraduate and Postgraduate level courses in the State through effective state-of-the-art technology. Admission through e–Counselling was successfully implemented to admit candidates in the undergraduate level courses in the Engineering & Technological Institutes of the State for the academic year 2015 – 2016.
For the 2015 – 2016 academic session, the Board will conduct the Common Entrance Examination along with counselling for admission to Undergraduate Courses in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture in Universities, Govt. Colleges and Self Financed Institutes in the State. The application for this examination will be received ONLINE and the FORM is available at the portal of the Board at http://www.wbjeeb.nic.in

Important dates and Eligibility

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria :
(1) The applicant must be a citizen of India and must have passed the H.S.(10+2) or its equivalent examination
(a) For B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. -
General candidates must secure at least 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together (40% for SC/ST candidates) and at least 30% marks in English (for all categories)
(b) For Pharmacy -
General candidates must secure at least 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology taken together (40% for SC/ST candidates) and at least 30% marks in English (for all categories).
(c) For Marine Engineering -
At least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together and 50% marks in English either in 10th standard or in (10+2) standard.
(d) For MBBS* and BDS* -
General candidates must secure at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together (40% for SC/ST candidates) and 30% marks in English (for all categories)
(2) In addition to above candidates must secure at least pass marks in the subjects individually including vernacular (or any other fifth subject) as mentioned below -
BE/B.Tech/B.Arch. - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and Vernacular or any other 5th subject. MBBS*/BDS* - Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and Vernacular or any other 5th subject.
Pharmacy - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, English, and Vernacular or any other 5th subject.
(3) For MBBS* and BDS* courses in addition to aforesaid eligibility criteria, the general candidates must have to secure at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences taken together (40% for SC/ST) in the Joint Entrance Examination, West Bengal.
Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in 2012 will be allowed to sit for JEM-2013 provisionally and their admission, if merit listed, will be subjected to satisfying the minimum requirements of eligibility as specified above.
Age Restriction : Candidates must be 17 (seventeen) years of age or above as on 31.12.2013. There is no upper age limit except for the Marine Engineering course for which the upper age limit is 25 years as on 31.07.2013.

Applications are invited from Indian Citizens for admission to undergraduate courses in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Medical*/Dental* and Pharmacy in Universities/Colleges in West Bengal for the academic session 2015-2016, on the basis of a JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION, to be conducted by the "WEST BENGAL JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS BOARD".
